When I was a little girl, my parents owned a van that had been outfitted for camping; the seats replaced with a bed, a sofa, and a tiny kitchen. Tacked up over one interior side panel was a crocheted mural of Mt. Whitney. Some of my earliest memories are of camping trips in that van; sleeping beneath the frayed and sun-bleached peaks of Mt. Whitney, trekking through the wilderness with my dad, and later, returning to camp and reading books by lamplight with my mom.  Looking back on my childhood, I guess it’s not surprising that I grew up to love writing and outdoor adventures.

I also love sharing these interests with others, which brings us to this, my first official blog post!  I hope to use this blog as a space to record my own thoughts, anecdotes, and adventures, and also to connect with others and hopefully make some new friends along the way.
